Forgotten
I found you in the darkness, your empty soul dried out
You say you were forgotten and no one heard you shout
For many years imprisoned and hidden from the light
The world so full of colours must seem dangerously bright
I guide you to the sunshine, you say it makes you blind
In time you will get used to this freedom of your mind
You’re frightened and bewildered, your confidence still weak
But hope is slowly growing in a landscape grey and bleak
I show you all the wonders your life has yet in store
Just a few small steps now and you will ask for more
Your view still out of focus, you move towards your goal
And every newfound friend will truly reinforce your soul
I leave you on your own now, I guess you’re strong enough
And you can still rely on me in case your trip gets rough
You head for the horizon, you conquer your first mile
The road is quite uneven but you’ll get there with a smile
